Former head of the State Tax Service and his deputy reimbursed the state for damages amounting to 4.3 billion soms

Former head of the GNS and his deputy compensated the state for 4.3 billion soms

According to the press service of the GKNB of the Kyrgyz Republic, the former chairman of the State Tax Service (GNS) and his deputy have compensated the material damage amounting to 4 billion 307 million soms in favor of the state.

The individuals, A.A.K. and K.I.N., were detained on December 6, 2024, in connection with a criminal case concerning abuse of office (Article 337 Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic). They committed the crimes before amendments were made to the Criminal Code that tightened penalties for corrupt acts.

As a result, the accused were convicted under the previous version of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, which allowed them to avoid harsher sanctions, as they admitted their guilt and agreed to a procedural agreement involving compensation for damages.

The defendants fully acknowledged their guilt during the investigation and compensated the state for the specified amount of damage.

Testimonies obtained from the main defendants, as well as investigative actions conducted, contributed to the identification of a stable corruption scheme in the tax service, which involved employees of the Central Audit Department of the GNS and the mentioned officials.

Moreover, the comprehensive measures taken by the GKNB, including the dismantling of the corruption scheme, not only ensured that the tax authority fulfilled its tax and insurance contribution collection plan for 2025 but also increased revenues by 40 billion soms compared to initial forecasts.

Currently, the investigation continues regarding the other defendants.

It is worth noting that a verdict was previously issued in the Lenin District Court against the former head of the GNS, Altynbek Abduvapov, and his deputy, Islambek Kydyrgychov.
