According to meteorologists, on March 4, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, cloudy weather will prevail in Mongolia. At night, light snow and blizzards are predicted in the Mongol-Altai and Khangai mountain ranges, while precipitation is expected during the day in the Khuvsgul and Khangai mountain ranges.
Today, snowfalls and blizzards are expected in most regions of the country. In eastern Mongolia, precipitation is forecasted for March 3, and in the area of the Khalkh River — on the 4th. Additionally, temperatures are expected to drop significantly in most areas. Strong winds may occur in the south of the country, which could reduce visibility and create unfavorable road conditions.
Regarding precipitation: at night, light snow and blizzards are expected in the Mongol-Altai and Khangai mountain ranges, while during the day — in the Khangai and Khuvsgul mountain ranges.
On wind conditions: in the south, the wind will blow from the west, while in other areas — from the northwest at a speed of 5-10 meters per second. In the Altai Mountains and the Arts-Bogd Gorge, wind gusts may reach 13-15 meters per second.
Temperature readings will decrease in most regions. At night, temperatures around Lake Uvs and in the Darkhad Valley may drop to -30... -35 °C, in the Tes River valley — from -36 to -41 °C, and in the Khangai, Khuvsgul, and Zavkhan mountains, as well as at the source of the Zag-Baidrag River and in the Ider River valley — from -25 to -30 °C. In the foothills of the Khangai Mountains and in the northern and eastern Gobi, temperatures are expected to be -14 to -19 °C, while in other areas — -20 to -25 °C.
In the vicinity of Ulaanbaatar, the weather is cloudy with no precipitation. The wind is northwest at a speed of 4-9 meters per second. At night, temperatures in the Yaarmag-Songino area will fluctuate from -28 to -30 °C, while in other places — from -22 to -24 °C, during the day the temperature will be -10 to -12 °C. In Baganuur, it is also cloudy and without snow, with a northwest wind of 5-10 meters per second. Night temperatures are expected to be -28 to -30 °C, and during the day — -14 to -16 °C.
Until March 5, strong frosts will persist in the eastern regions of the country. On the 5th, light snowfall is expected in the area of Lake Uvs and the Altai Mountains, on March 6 — in the Altai and Khangai mountains, and on March 7 — in the Khuvsgul mountains and the Selenga River basin. It is forecasted that the cold will begin to ease in the western regions on March 5, and in most regions — on the 6th.
