Snow is expected in the southern Altai Gobi, in the Khangai mountains, and along the Selenga, Kharaa, Terelj, and Kherlen rivers.
According to meteorologists, on January 28, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, cloudy weather will be observed in the southern regions of the country, while other areas will experience variable cloudiness. Precipitation is expected in the southern Altai Gobi, while other places will remain snow-free. In the southwestern regions, the wind will blow from the southwest, while in other areas it will come from the northwest at a speed of 5-10 meters per second.
The temperature around Lake Uvs, the Darkhad basin, and in the valleys of the Tes, Orkhon, Kharaa, and Yeruu rivers will range from 23 to 28°C. In the basins of the Zag-Baidrag, Ider, Eg, Uur, Selenga, Tuul, Terelj, Kherlen, Onon, Ulz rivers, as well as in the Khalkh river valley and the Darygansky steppe, the temperature will be between -17 and -22°C. In the Altai mountains, the foothills of the Khangai mountains, and the southeastern parts of the Gobi, temperatures are expected to range from -6 to -11°C, while in other regions it will be between -11 and -16°C.
In the southwestern part of the Gobi region, air temperatures are forecasted to be between 0–5°C.
In the Ulaanbaatar area, cloudy conditions with light snowfall are expected. The wind will blow from the southeast or northwest at a speed of 5-10 meters per second, and the temperature will be -12 to -14°C.
