According to the National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring, this is the lowest temperature recorded in the country during the current winter season.

In the northern region and other parts of the country, variable cloudiness is expected, with no snow predicted. In the western part of the country, the wind will blow from the west, while in other areas it will come from the northwest at a speed of 5-10 meters per second.
In the Darhad basin and in the valleys of the Tes and Eröö rivers, the temperature will range from -32 to -37°C, in the Uvs lake basin, Zavkhan, in the upper reaches of the Zag-Baidrag rivers, as well as in the valleys of the Ider, Eg, Uur, Orkhon, Selenge, Kharaa rivers and at the confluence of the Orkhon-Tuul rivers, the temperature will fluctuate from -26 to -31°C.
In the Altai Mountains, the foothills of the Khangai Mountains, and in the southwestern part of the Gobi, temperatures are expected to be between -8 and -13°C, in the eastern and northern parts of the Gobi -15 to -20°C, while in other areas it will be -20 to -25°C.
In Ulaanbaatar, variable cloudiness without precipitation is also forecasted, with a northwest wind of 2–7 meters per second and air temperatures ranging from -21 to -23°C.
In most regions, wind speeds will be 4-9 meters per second, while in the Altai Mountains, Gobi, and steppes, it will reach 12-14 meters per second. The cold weather is expected to ease during the day. At night, temperatures around Uvs lake and in the Darhad basin, as well as in Zavkhan and the headwaters of the Zag-Baidrag, Ider, and Tes rivers, will fluctuate from -38 to -43°C, while during the day it will be from -27 to -32°C.
In the mountainous areas of Khangai, Khubsugul, Khentii, as well as in the valleys of the Orkhon, Selenge, Kharaa, Eröö, Tuul, Terelj, Kherlen, Onon, Ulz, and Khalkh rivers, nighttime temperatures will be -31 to -36°C, and during the day -21 to -26°C. In the southern part of the Gobi, nighttime temperatures are expected to be between -15 and -20°C, and during the day -4 to -9°C; in the northern Gobi -20 to -25°C at night and -9 to -14°C during the day; in other parts of the country -24 to -29°C at night and -14 to -19°C during the day.
Since the beginning of last week, a cold air mass formed in Siberia (Russia) has been moving across Mongolia, causing a sharp drop in temperature.
Experts predict that the cold snap will last until Saturday and strongly recommend that the population, especially nomadic herders and drivers, take additional precautions due to possible disasters.
Winter in Mongolia has long been characterized by severe cold, with temperature fluctuations from -25°C to -45°C.
