From February 13, snowfall and blizzards are predicted in the northern regions of the country, and on February 14, the inclement weather will spread to the east. As a result, a significant drop in temperature is expected in most regions, with strong gusts of wind anticipated in the mountainous areas of Altai and Gobi, as well as in the steppe regions.
According to the latest weather forecast, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on February 12, 2026, Mongolia will experience predominantly cloudy weather. Snow will fall in the mountainous areas of Altai, Khangai, and Khövsgöl, while no precipitation is expected in other regions. The wind in the western part of the country will shift from a southwesterly to a northwesterly direction, while in other areas it will blow from the southwest at a speed of 4-9 meters per second, with gusts in the Altai mountains reaching 15-17 meters per second.
The temperature near Lake Uvs and in the Darhad Depression, as well as in the upper reaches of the Zavkhan River and the Tes River valley, will range from -20 to -25°C. In the Mongol-Altai, Khövsgöl, and Khangai mountains, temperatures will fluctuate between -13 and -18°C. In the Khentii mountains and the valleys of the Orkhon, Selenge, Kharaa, Kherlen, and Khalkh rivers, temperatures will be between -7 and -12°C. In the foothills of the Khangai range and the southern part of Gobi, temperatures are expected to range from 0 to +5°C, while in the eastern part of Gobi, with minimal snow cover, temperatures will be from 0 to +5°C, and in other regions, from 0 to -5°C.
As for Ulaanbaatar, there will also be variable cloudy weather, but without precipitation. The wind will be southwesterly at a speed of 3-8 meters per second, and the air temperature will range from 0 to -2°C.
