Kyrgyzstan intends to promote belt wrestling in the Olympic direction through international and Asian platforms.

At the meeting of the relevant committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 19, Kazybek Moldazhiyev, the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, announced plans for the international promotion of belt wrestling, known as alysh-kurash.

According to Moldazhiyev, the agency is actively collaborating with the federation of this sport and aims to promote alysh-kurash as an Olympic discipline.

He also noted that belt wrestling has already found its place within the World Wrestling Association.
