At the meeting of the relevant committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, Kazybek Moldazhiyev, announced that kok-boru and kokpar will receive the status of separate disciplines at the upcoming World Nomad Games. This decision was made to eliminate possible misunderstandings and in accordance with the proposals of a neighboring country.
The kok-boru competitions will be held according to Kyrgyz rules, while the kokpar will follow the standards of Kazakhstan. In total, the event program includes 43 different types of competitions.
The organizers expect a record number of participants, having sent invitations to 100 countries. The tournament regulations have already been approved and distributed. For comparison, only 17 sports were represented at the first Games. It is expected that the designation of separate disciplines for equestrian games will attract more spectators and enhance international cooperation in preserving nomadic culture.
