The Head of the Academy of Sciences Commented on the Construction of Football Fields in the Botanical Garden

Abdrakhmatov commented on the discussion of plans for the improvement of the Botanical Garden in Bishkek, emphasizing that the project includes two mini-football fields at the site located at 1a Akhunbaeva Street. He reminded that there used to be a football field in this area, and the new construction will serve as a restoration of the lost infrastructure.

The President of the National Academy of Sciences emphasized that the area of the plot on Akhunbaeva Street is 87 hectares, while the total area of the two football fields will not exceed 16 hundredths, which constitutes 0.18% of the total area of the garden.

According to him, the Botanical Garden should serve not only scientific purposes but also be a place for recreation and physical activity. "The mini-football fields are created specifically for this - for sports, recreation, and children," he noted.

Addressing the criticism regarding the "barbaric" cutting down of trees, Abdrakhmatov explained that the plot on Akhunbaeva Street was in a neglected state: many plants had dried up, pathways and irrigation systems were not functioning, and some areas were difficult to traverse and cluttered. Therefore, it was decided to remove the overgrowth "by the roots" for subsequent improvement using a scientific approach.

It should be noted that the Botanical Garden has another plot on Gorky Street with an area of 20 hectares, where research and acclimatization of plants are conducted. Access to this area is provided to students by prior appointment.

Abdrakhmatov also reported on the issue of insufficient irrigation in the Botanical Garden. Currently, two deep wells have been drilled, a water storage tank has been built, and the previously existing pool has been cleaned. A new irrigation system, costing 96 million soms, has already been constructed and will ensure water supply throughout the territory in the spring.

In conclusion, the head of the National Academy of Sciences emphasized that there are no plans to build residential multi-story buildings or entertainment facilities in the Botanical Garden, and all work is being carried out "for the people, ordinary citizens."
