The deputy opposed the construction of football fields in the Botanical Garden

At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Dastan Bekeshev expressed his position against the plans to build football fields in the Botanical Garden, emphasizing the significance of this place for the entire country.

He noted that there are only two botanical gardens in Kyrgyzstan — one in Bishkek at the intersection of Gorky and Akhunbaev streets, and the other in Naryn. Bekeshev stressed how important these spaces are for ecology and scientific research.

“The Botanical Garden is of immense importance to Bishkek and is mentioned in the law on specially protected areas. It was created for scientific work. However, we are now witnessing how this garden is being treated. On May 11, 2022, a resolution was adopted regarding its development. The law on the protection of natural areas clearly states that the Botanical Garden serves to increase biodiversity,” the deputy added.

In addition, he called on the president to pay attention to this situation.

Earlier, the administration of the Botanical Garden reported that the presidential administration had begun the construction of two football fields at the central entrance, on 7 April Street. According to the administration, the selected construction site has rocky soil and suffers from a lack of water, which hinders vegetation growth.

It is worth noting that in January 2025, the Enver Gareev Botanical Garden was granted the status of a specially protected natural area, which was approved by the chairman of the cabinet of ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliev.
