On January 15, during a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Bolot Ibragimov expressed his doubts regarding the extension of training periods. He believes that the high accident rate is not related to the duration of the courses but to corruption, and that the state bears responsibility for the lack of honest oversight.
These views were supported by Deputy Dastan Bekeshev, who noted that in countries like Japan and the USA, training lasts only about three months. He also expressed concern that due to the increased cost and duration of the courses, citizens of Kyrgyzstan might start going to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan for training. Thus, instead of enhancing safety within the country, the initiative could lead to the development of "educational tourism" in neighboring countries. Meanwhile, the Presidential Administration reported that student enrollment will begin on January 19 through the "Tunduk" system. Currently, most driving schools in the capital are not conducting enrollment.
