Bekeshev: Driver's License Training Extended to 10-12 Months. Youth Will Leave for Abroad
According to the new standards, obtaining a category B driver's license in Kyrgyzstan now takes 10 months, while for category C it takes 12 months.
The deputy emphasizes that such a duration is excessive and may have negative consequences.
“Our young citizens report that this is too long. In other countries, training takes only about three months. If we insist on a timeframe of 10-12 months, many of them will prefer to study abroad. As a result, we are contributing to the development of the tourism industry in neighboring countries,” noted Bekeshev.
This statement was responded to by Tynychbek Saidov, the director of the State Center for Vehicle Registration and Driver Training, who pointed out that the new standards were approved by the Ministry of Education.
“The Ministry of Education previously approved new standards for obtaining category B and C licenses. According to these regulations, training for a category B license lasts 10 months, and for category C — 12 months. A curriculum is currently being developed that will determine the number of theoretical and practical classes,” he added.
“Such a decision is incorrect and may lead to an increase in youth unemployment. We are moving in this direction, and one day the youth will express their dissatisfaction,” concluded the deputy.
