Bekeshev: Citizens spend up to 100 soms to reach government agencies

A deputy calls on the Ministry of Economy to implement the use of mobile communication and messengers in government services

During a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with issues of constitutional legislation, state structure, local self-government, and regulations, deputy Dastan Bekeshev voiced the problems of low-quality state and municipal services, which are largely caused by the lack of proper communication with citizens.

Addressing Choro Seyitov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce, he emphasized that citizens regularly face difficulties when trying to call various service organizations, such as elevator services, electrical networks, and water supply companies.
According to him, many institutions continue to use landline phones from "Kyrgyztelecom," where the cost of one minute of conversation is about 5 soms, and the waiting time to connect with an operator can be very long.
“Every minute, the answering machine suggests waiting, but this 'minute' can stretch to 20 minutes. As a result, people spend up to 100 soms just to reach a specialist,” the deputy emphasized.

Dastan Bekeshev noted that the Ministry of Economy and Commerce is responsible for the quality policy of the services provided and must take appropriate measures. He called for all state and municipal bodies to start using mobile phones and modern communication channels such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and other messengers.

He also reported that "Kyrgyztelecom" refused to make calls free due to financial difficulties. In this regard, the deputy noted that the costs should not fall on the shoulders of citizens.

“Citizens should not have to spend 100 soms just to reach the call center of a government agency,” Bekeshev emphasized.
