The US is preparing 500% tariffs for countries trading with Russia
The aim of this document is to increase economic pressure on Russia to force it to cease military actions against Ukraine. The bill grants the U.S. president expanded powers for the economic isolation of Russia, including the ability to impose secondary sanctions on third countries.
In particular, the bill provides for five-hundred-percent tariffs on imports of goods from countries that continue to purchase Russian oil, petroleum products, or uranium.
This measure is expected to negatively impact Russia's revenues and serve as a deterrent for its trading partners.
Currently, the bill is under discussion and must be voted on in the U.S. Congress. If approved, it will become one of the most stringent sanctions measures taken by the U.S. in recent times, which could significantly affect international trade and Washington's relations with several major economies.
