The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic advises its citizens not to travel to Iran until the situation stabilizes. This decision is related to the cancellation and alteration of international flights, as well as the introduction of restrictions on crossing land borders.
According to the department's information, as of January 16, 2026, many airlines have changed their schedules or temporarily suspended flights to and from Iran. In case air travel is not possible, citizens are advised to consider using land routes through neighboring countries.
For citizens of Kyrgyzstan, travel to Armenia and Turkey is possible without visas. However, to cross Turkmenistan, it is necessary to obtain permission and a transit visa in advance from the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan.
Crossing points between Iran and Afghanistan, as well as Iraq, remain open. For crossing these borders, it is required to obtain visas in advance from the respective diplomatic missions.
Currently, the land borders of Iran with Pakistan and Azerbaijan are closed.
Citizens in need of assistance to exit Iran are recommended by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to contact the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Tehran or the Consular Department, providing the following information: full name, contact details, a photo of the passport page, and the intended border crossing point.
