The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that citizens of Kyrgyzstan refrain from traveling to Iran.
If you are unable to fly, there is an option to exit by land through neighboring countries.
Kyrgyz citizens can enter Armenia and Turkey without any obstacles; however, for visiting Turkmenistan, it is necessary to contact the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in advance to obtain assistance in arranging an entry permit and transit visa.
As of January 16, 2026, border crossing points on the border of Iran with Afghanistan and Iraq are open. Those planning to enter these countries are advised to apply for visas in advance at the relevant diplomatic institutions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also recommends considering alternative routes for exit, as the borders of Iran with Pakistan and Azerbaijan are currently closed.
Citizens who require assistance in exiting Iran are advised to send the following information to the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the embassy:
— surname, first name, patronymic, and contact details;
— a photograph of the passport page with personal data;
— the intended border crossing point.
Citizens of Kyrgyzstan who plan to visit Iran in the near future are strongly advised to postpone their trip until the situation in the region stabilizes.
