EMERGENCY SERVICE Employee Hospitalized After Rescuing People in Fire at Nursing Home
At the moment, Keleshov's condition is assessed as satisfactory, and there is no threat to his life.
The incident occurred on January 6 at the nursing home on Abay Street in Bishkek, where 15 people were successfully evacuated. Unfortunately, two individuals died as a result of the fire.
Four fire brigades and an operational headquarters were involved in combating the fire. The fire was completely extinguished.
Later, the city administration clarified that the fire broke out in the palliative care unit, covering an area of about 30 square meters. The main building of the facility was not damaged.
The mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, the deputy chairman of the cabinet of ministers, Edil Baisalov, and the minister of labor, social security, and migration, Kanat Sagynbaev, arrived at the scene.
Unfortunately, two patients in critical condition died as a result of the fire. Another 11 people were sent to medical facilities for observation and treatment due to possible carbon monoxide poisoning.
The city administration noted that fire and tactical exercises were conducted at this nursing home in July 2025, and fire safety requirements were properly observed. The city head ordered a review of all documents related to the incident.
The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that 14 patients were admitted to the Clinical Emergency Hospital: 13 diagnosed with "carbon monoxide poisoning" and one with first-degree burns. The condition of four of the injured is assessed as moderate, while two are in serious condition. Minister of Health Kanaybek Dosmambetov visited the patients.
