A fire occurred in the palliative care ward of the nursing home, - Bishkek City Hall
According to preliminary data, the area of the fire was about 30 square meters.
Fire services arrived at the scene within nine minutes. Given the special conditions of the facility, four units of special equipment were deployed to extinguish the fire, and ambulance teams and medical personnel were also sent, the city administration reported.
High-ranking officials, including Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov, and Minister of Labor and Social Protection Kanat Sagynbaev, arrived at the scene of the incident.
Unfortunately, as a result of the incident, two patients — palliative care patients in critical condition — lost their lives.
Additionally, 11 people were hospitalized for observation in medical facilities due to possible carbon monoxide poisoning.
The city administration noted that in July 2025, fire tactical exercises were conducted at this facility, and all necessary fire safety measures were followed.
The main building of the Nursing Home was not damaged; the fire affected only one room in the palliative care ward. Evacuations will be carried out as necessary, the city administration added.
The mayor instructed the responsible services to conduct a complete review of the documentation to clarify all the circumstances of the incident.
The causes of the fire will be determined following the investigation by the competent authorities.
