It has been reported that a fire broke out in the palliative care unit of a nursing home, covering an area of about 30 square meters.
According to reports, firefighters arrived at the scene within nine minutes. Four fire trucks and ambulance crews were involved in extinguishing the fire.
Unfortunately, two residents who were in critical condition died as a result of the fire. Additionally, 11 people were taken to hospitals for observation due to possible carbon monoxide poisoning.
The press release notes that in July 2025, fire tactical drills were conducted at the facility, and all fire safety measures were followed. The fire only affected one room in the palliative care unit, and the main building of the home was not damaged. "Evacuation of residents will be carried out as needed," the official statement said.
The mayor has instructed the relevant services to check all documentation to clarify the circumstances of the incident. The causes of the fire will be determined based on the findings of the competent authorities.
