A film studio and Dolby Atmos recording studio will be built in Kyrgyzstan

Ambitious projects to modernize the film production infrastructure are starting in Kyrgyzstan, including the construction of the country's first film studio and a modern recording studio. This was announced by Marat Tagaev, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy, during a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh.

As Tagaev noted, the Department of Cinematography has set high goals to be achieved by 2026. The project for the construction of the film studio has already been included in the title list, and work on its implementation will begin in collaboration with the Ministry of Construction.
According to the deputy minister, domestic directors and producers are currently forced to turn to foreign studios for dubbing their films, which costs between 15,000 to 20,000 dollars. "We expect that by 2026, a recording studio with Dolby Atmos support will be opened in Kyrgyzstan, which will allow completing the entire post-production process on-site," he emphasized.

During his speech, Tagaev also noted the significant increase in state support for cinematography. If in 2020 less than 100 million soms were allocated for film development, by 2025-2026 this amount will grow to 1 billion soms. Thus, over five years, the budget for film production has increased tenfold.

With the increase in funding, the requirements for the quality of the content being created are also rising. The Ministry of Culture conducted an analysis of how well new films meet audience expectations and can be competitive in international markets.

To optimize operations, a "single window" system will be implemented, and film scripts will undergo review through the artistic councils of the National Cinema "Kyrgyzfilm" and "Kyrgyzserial." The final decision on the feasibility of filming will be made by the artistic-expert council at the Department of Cinematography.
