Diplomatic Year. How Kyrgyzstan Strengthened Its Position on the International Stage

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Adylbek Kasymaliev, made 19 trips abroad during 2025. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeenbek Kulubaev, at a press conference summarizing the year.

The Minister noted that out of all the visits, three were official, while 16 were working. This year demonstrated that even in the context of a complex international situation, it is possible to maintain dynamic economic diplomacy. During the visits, more than ten agreements were signed, and several long-term strategies were developed.

In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conducted 16 visits, including 6 official, 10 working, and one in an online format. "The main focus was on the CIS and Central Asia, which became our priorities for ensuring stability. An important part of the year was the visit to New York, related to Kyrgyzstan's participation in the work of the UN Security Council, where meetings were held with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and representatives of Caribbean countries," Kulubaev added.

In 2025, official visits to Slovenia and Hungary also took place, significantly expanding the geography of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy activity, strengthening its positions and opening new avenues for cooperation.

The Minister emphasized that the most significant foreign policy success of 2025 was the complete resolution of the state border issue with Tajikistan. In March 2025, an intergovernmental treaty on the border was signed, concluding one of the longest and most complex negotiation processes in the recent history of Central Asia.
