Zheenbek Kulubaev: The Year 2025 Became a Period of Diplomatic Activity
At the press conference dedicated to the results of 2025, Jeenbek Kulubaev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, noted that the past year was a period of significant diplomatic activity. Under the leadership of President Sadyr Japarov, the republic consistently pursued a pragmatic and multi-vector course, which contributed to strengthening ties both with neighboring Central Asian states and with partners from far abroad. He highlighted the final resolution of issues regarding the state border as an important achievement, which has historical significance for the country's security.
The dynamics of foreign policy work is confirmed by specific figures: in 2025, President Japarov made 25 foreign trips, three of which were classified as state and official visits. According to the Foreign Minister, the total number of bilateral and multilateral meetings significantly increased, amounting to about 190, of which 130 took place outside Kyrgyzstan. Notably, there was significant progress in relations with Beijing, where, following two presidential visits to China, 33 new agreements were signed, elevating cooperation to a new strategic level. There was also a qualitative growth in interaction with Mongolia, whose relations can now be characterized as a comprehensive partnership.
An important part of Kyrgyzstan's work in 2025 was its active participation in international forums. The country successfully combined its duties as the chair of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the CSTO, and also began to fulfill the functions of the chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs intends to focus in 2026 on developing economic diplomacy and protecting the interests of citizens abroad, continuing constructive dialogue with all key global partners.
