Participants of the fair in Bishkek are awaiting clarifications and assistance from the tax service

In Bishkek, in the square in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a weekend fair will be held on January 10 and 11, 2026, dedicated to the celebration of the New Year according to the old calendar. This event will not only serve as a marketplace but also as a place for social interaction.

Residents and guests of the capital are invited to the fair, where they will be able to purchase gifts, souvenirs, and fresh products from farmers and processors. There will also be an opportunity to congratulate each other on the holiday at the "People's Microphone," where songs and dances can be performed in a family or group format.

In anticipation of 2026, representatives of the tax authorities reminded those selling agricultural products that they must register as individual entrepreneurs (IE) starting January 1. However, the first days of the new year are holidays, which complicates the work of government services. Fair participants hope for individual clarifications from the tax authorities.

Many farmers and processors are facing difficulties as they lack experience in opening an IE. They are concerned about the differences between personal and entrepreneurial QR codes, as well as the possibility of using earned funds for personal needs and the necessary documentation. They are also interested in how to apply for registration—remotely or only through the tax office.

Additionally, fair participants are worried about the process of closing an IE. According to them, starting a business is not that difficult, but closing it can cause many problems, as shown by the experiences of others.

Farmers hope that the tax service will be able to conduct explanatory talks right at the fair, explaining the registration process and tax payments. It would also be helpful if representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and the tax authorities could discuss benefits and loans for agricultural producers in an accessible manner.

The fair has already established itself as an important social platform for residents and guests of the capital. It provides an opportunity to purchase products at reasonable prices and serves as a channel for information exchange. Organizers emphasize the need to maintain this format.

Curators note that the fair continues to fulfill its primary task—providing the population with socially significant products at prices below market rates. Flour and staple goods are sold at wholesale prices, and producers take turns selling.

- We will start working on January 10-11, 2026, and then the fair will open in the same format in the Jal and Vostok-5 microdistricts. Tents, tables, and chairs will be prepared for convenience. Farmers' fairs can be considered transformer fairs: products are brought in for the weekend, sold, and then all infrastructure is removed. It is important that participants do not inflate prices and comply with tax requirements, - said the curator of fairs in Bishkek, Iskak Anvarbekov.

To reach the fair, you can take bus No. 1, which runs from Ala-Archa Gorge to the square. The weekend fair will operate until June 2026.

Participation for farmers and processors is free, only confirmation from the district agricultural management and compliance with pricing requirements are required.
