At a meeting of the Agrarian Policy Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Erkayim Seytkazieva raised the issue of residents of the Issyk-Ata district who requested to open a livestock market, as the nearest one is located in Kemin.
Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Industry Bakyt Torobaev responded that the initiative to create a market should come from local self-government bodies.
He added: “The Ministry of Agriculture can only exercise control. The Tokmok livestock market was given a year to comply with sanitary standards, but no measures were taken. As a result, the market was closed. Nationwide, the closure of 48 livestock markets that do not meet sanitary requirements is planned,” he noted.
