The livestock market in Tokmok will be relocated to another site, and modern multifunctional facilities are planned to be built in its place. This information was announced by the mayor of the city, Altynbek Ergeshov, during a meeting with sellers.

The livestock market in Tokmok is one of the largest in northern Kyrgyzstan and serves as an important hub for livestock trading in the Chui region, where various types of animals are sold: cows, sheep, horses, and bulls.

According to the mayor, the existing livestock market does not meet modern sanitary, veterinary, and urban planning standards. Its proximity to highways and residential areas also poses a threat to the safety and health of local residents.

In light of these issues, a decision has been made to move the market to a new location nearby, but away from traffic flows and residential buildings. This, according to the mayor, will create safer and more convenient conditions for both traders and buyers.

The mayor emphasized that the territory of the old livestock market has great potential for further development of the city. In the future, it is planned to attract investors, including from abroad, to implement various projects.

The project for the new market includes the construction of multifunctional buildings and the creation of a business space focused on technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

According to local authorities, all necessary conditions will be created at the new livestock market: modern infrastructure, compliance with sanitary and veterinary standards, as well as convenience and safety for all participants in the trading process.

Representatives of the Chui District State Administration reported that the new livestock market will be located in the eastern part of Vinogradnoye. “However, at this moment, we cannot provide exact data on the size of the site or the start date of construction. The project is still in the planning stage, and complete information will be available after all documents are finalized,” the statement noted.

Traders engaged in livestock sales expressed the opinion that the Tokmok livestock market had one significant advantage. “If the new market is not too far from the road and all conditions meet the standards, we will get used to the new location. However, the Tokmok market had the convenience of being close to food and spontaneous markets where necessary goods could be purchased. Now, after selling livestock, we will have to go back to Tokmok,” they shared.

Turmush previously reported that a decision has been made to close the private livestock market in Tokmok starting January 1, 2026. Inspections by regulatory authorities established that the market operated on a commercial basis, charging fees for the placement and sale of animals.
At the same time, the market owners did not provide the necessary investments for the development and maintenance of sanitary and veterinary infrastructure.

Systematic violations of sanitary and veterinary standards became the main grounds for the market's closure.

Despite repeated orders and warnings, the owners did not take measures to rectify the violations.

Trading in livestock at this site is being discontinued. Farmers and sellers are advised to turn to other operating markets in the region and use online platforms for selling livestock. Special sites will be organized according to established requirements.
