Today, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev stated at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Agricultural Policy that all livestock markets that do not meet established requirements will be closed.

This statement was made in response to the proposal by Deputy Erkeaiym Seitkazieva, who emphasized the need to open a livestock market in the Issyk-Ata district.

She noted that the livestock market was moved from Tokmok to Kemin, and now the Issyk-Ata district is located 90 kilometers from both markets — Kemin and Kara-Balta, which creates inconveniences for local residents.

Bakyt Torobaev explained that the market in Tokmok was closed due to non-compliance with sanitary standards on the part of the owner.
“Despite the fact that we provided a year to rectify the situation and offered financial assistance, no actions were taken, so the market was closed. There are 48 livestock markets operating in the republic, and many of them also do not meet the requirements. We are warning in advance that we will close them as well. As for opening new markets, this depends on local authorities. If they create the necessary conditions, we are ready to support this initiative,” he added.
