Negotiations between the Cabinet of Ministers and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have been completed. The parties have agreed on the financing of a significant project concerning the concreting of the channel bed of the western branch of the Large Chui Canal, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.
Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobayev noted that a corresponding agreement is currently being prepared.
Goals of the canal concreting
Currently, water losses during irrigation transportation through the BChK amount to 50-55 percent due to the earthen channel, with a significant portion of the water seeping into the soil and not reaching the farmers.
