According to the minister, an agreement was reached during discussions with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) regarding the financing of the concrete lining of the Western branch of the Second Large Chui Canal. Currently, work is underway to prepare the agreement.
The estimated cost of this project is approximately 37 million euros.
As of today, water losses during delivery through the BChK amount to 50–55%. The concrete lining of the canal will significantly reduce these leaks and ensure a reliable water supply to irrigated agricultural lands.Additionally, the concrete lining of the canal will prevent water from filtering into the soil and moving through underground layers, creating conditions for draining swampy areas in the lower part of the canal.
As stated in the message, this will create opportunities for using these lands for agriculture, developing horticulture, and developing new lands for construction, which may lead to the formation of new settlements near existing ones.
