According to the British publication Financial Times, new unrest has begun in Iran. Students from several universities, including the technological universities of Amir Kabir and Sharif, started protest actions on the first day of the new academic semester.

On the campuses, they faced groups supporting the authorities and shouted slogans against the government and the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on February 21.

This event occurs against the backdrop of deteriorating relations between Iran and the United States.

Protests in the country began in late December 2025, triggered by the devaluation of the national currency, and soon escalated into broader actions against the government. During the unrest, there have been reports of internet shutdowns and casualties among security forces and protesters, with some estimates suggesting the death toll is around two thousand people.

Iranian authorities have accused the U.S. and Israel of organizing the unrest and stated on January 12 that the situation is under control.
