Protesters in Iran have taken control of the cities of Abdanan and Malekshahi - Media

According to information provided by Fox News, protesters in Iran have taken control of the cities of Abdanan and Malekshahi.

The city of Abdanan, located near the border with Iraq, was completely under the control of the protesters, as confirmed by the National Council of Resistance of Iran. Along with Abdanan, the protesters also seized Malekshahi. Videos have appeared on social media showing demonstrators in Abdanan chanting: "Death to Khamenei" and "This year is the year of blood, Ali Khamenei will be overthrown." Iranian police, standing on the roof of a building, applaud and support the protesters, according to media reports.

"A significant event has occurred in two cities in western Iran — they have effectively come under the control of the protesters, and people are celebrating in the streets," commented Ali Safavi, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran.

Mass anti-government protests continue in Iran, which have been ongoing for ten days due to the devaluation of the rial and nearly 50% inflation, a consequence of sanctions and the conflict with Israel. According to Iranian media reports, more than two thousand protesters have been arrested, and 36 people, including two security personnel, have died.

According to the British newspaper The Times, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has developed a plan in case the protests cannot be suppressed: he may leave the country and go to Moscow with his closest entourage and assets.
