Protests in Minnesota continue despite extremely low temperatures. According to KSL, thousands of people have taken to the streets to oppose strict immigration policies.

Last Friday, about 100 clergy members were arrested at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport while protesting against deportations and demanding an end to large-scale immigration operations that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security calls the largest in history. The detainees were charged with trespassing and disobedience, after which they were released.

The protests were sparked by the tragic death of Rene Good, who, according to reports, was killed on January 7 by an officer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This event became a catalyst for daily actions in Minnesota cities, and activists began closely monitoring the actions of federal law enforcement.

The scandal also led to the resignation of a high-ranking FBI agent who was dissatisfied with the actions of the U.S. Department of Justice in the investigation of the murder.

Additionally, the detention of children, including two- and five-year-olds, during immigration raids has further outraged protesters. Human rights advocates and lawyers state that such actions violate family rights, while the Department of Homeland Security defends the legality of its actions.

Participants in the protests are demanding an end to ICE operations in Minnesota and condemning the policies they consider inhumane and threatening to local communities.
