Protests Erupt in the U.S. After Woman's Murder in Minneapolis

Protests began in the U.S. after the killing of a woman in Minneapolis
After the incident that occurred on January 7 in Minneapolis, where ICE agents shot 37-year-old poet Rene Good, the streets filled with protesters. Thousands of people took to the streets, as reported by Minnesota Public Radio.

The protests were sparked by the actions of the immigration service, which, according to police, opened fire when the woman apparently attempted to ram an ICE patrol vehicle.

The agency stated that one of the officers, fearing for his safety and the safety of those around him, was forced to shoot.

The Department of Homeland Security characterized the incident as an "act of domestic terrorism," referring to Good's actions.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey sharply criticized the federal authorities' stance, calling their claim of self-defense "absurd" and demanded that ICE "get out."

President Donald Trump, in turn, supported the actions of ICE agents, stating that Good was behaving aggressively and obstructing the authorities' work. He noted that the incident was terrible and that the woman could be considered a "professional agitator."

A memorial has been organized at the site of the tragedy, where locals bring candles and flowers in memory of Rene Good.

Protesters are gathering in various parts of the city, chanting the name of the deceased and holding signs that read "ICE out." Protests are also planned in New York, Miami, and New Orleans.
