
At the international wrestling tournament MUHAMET MALO–2026, which took place on February 27 in the Albanian city of Tirana, Kyrgyz athlete Meerim Zhumanazarova won a silver medal.
Meerim competed in the 68 kg weight category, starting her journey in the tournament from the round of 16.
In the first part of the competition, she achieved early victories over American opponents: Destin Rene (11:0) and Solin Nicole Pearcy (10:0), which allowed her to advance to the semifinals.
In the semifinals, Zhumanazarova faced Nersin Bas from Turkey and confidently won with a score of 8:4, giving her the opportunity to compete for gold.
However, in the final, she lost to Bulgarian athlete Yulianna Yaneva, finishing the match with a score of 0:2 and taking second place in the tournament.
