According to Adenov, this decision was made taking into account the experience of previous competitions. An excessive number of weight categories creates significant organizational difficulties and negatively affects the dynamics of the competitions.
“If one of the sports takes too much time, it becomes boring for the spectators, and the athletes get tired. Moreover, participants can compete in several types of wrestling, which also needs to be considered,” he added.
The head of the secretariat emphasized that the organizers decided to keep those weight categories that are most interesting to the spectators, while ensuring a balance between different disciplines.
It was also noted that an important aspect is adherence to the principle of equality and international balance.
“If we focus only on Kyrgyz sports, it could jeopardize the project itself. Other countries may refuse to participate if they see a lack of fairness. These issues are discussed in advance with international federations, which understand us,” Adenov noted.
The reduction of weight categories, as emphasized by Nursultan Adenov, is aimed at increasing the spectacle of the games, maintaining sports competition, and supporting the interest of international participants in the World Nomad Games.
