At the VI World Nomad Games, a decision was made to reduce the number of weight categories. This change was explained by Nursultan Adenov, the head of the International Secretariat of the World Nomad Games, at a press conference at the "Kabar" agency. Adenov noted that this decision was the result of an analysis of previous competitions. According to him, too many weight categories complicate the organization of tournaments and may reduce viewer interest. "When competitions in one sport last an entire day, viewers lose interest, and athletes get tired, as many of them want to participate in several disciplines at once, and we are trying to give them that opportunity," he added.
As a result, the organizers decided to keep only those weight categories that generate the most interest among the public. The program was also developed with a balance between national sports of different countries in mind.
Adenov also emphasized that an exclusive focus on Kyrgyz disciplines could negatively affect the international status of the games. "If we concentrate only on the national sports of one country, it may lead to a loss of interest from participants from other states, who may perceive this as a lack of fairness. Therefore, all decisions are made very thoughtfully and discussed with the relevant federations," he noted.
