Changes to the Law "On the Status of Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh" are currently under consideration in the Jogorku Kenesh.
The initiator of the new bill is deputy Dastan Bekeshev, who proposed amendments to the existing law. The Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Local Self-Government, and Regulations has already approved the document in the first reading.
The proposed amendments concern the clarification of certain provisions defining the status of deputies, their rights, duties, and limitations.
According to Bekeshev, the aim of the bill is to amend Article 33 of the law "On the Status of Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh." He emphasized the need for a clear definition of the types of activities that deputies can engage in besides their main work, as well as the elimination of risks of unjustly stripping a deputy of their mandate due to ambiguities in the interpretation of the terms "scientific," "pedagogical," and "creative" activities.
