Earlier, Japarov commented on the pardon of Azhiev, who was convicted for illegal activities related to web cam studios. He stated that he received a request from Azhiev's mother, in which she asked for his release.
The president recounted: "I don't know how she found my number on WhatsApp, but she sent a video message. She said: 'My daughter-in-law with four children is struggling, one of the children is disabled. We are in a difficult financial situation. Please pardon my son, he promises to behave well, I vouch for him.' I am a compassionate person, and I really believed her, so I made the decision to grant the pardon."
Later, the president's press secretary Askat Alagozov published the appeal from Azhiev's mother that Japarov mentioned.
However, it soon became known that Azhiev had been detained. A criminal case was initiated in Tokmak under Article 283 "Illegal manufacture of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances without the purpose of sale."
