"Many take advantage of my kindness and softness, but this doesn't last long"
President Sadyr Japarov commented on the incident involving the flight of convicted Daniil Azhiev — the founder of a web-cam studio network — by helicopter from a correctional facility. In an interview with the Kabar agency, he noted that he immediately ordered the helicopter to be returned as soon as he learned about it.
Japarov explained that Azhiev was released as part of a pardon act. The mother of the convicted man contacted him, who, as he himself said, somehow obtained his WhatsApp number and sent a video message.
She spoke about the difficult circumstances: "My sister-in-law with four children is facing great difficulties, one of the children is disabled. Our financial situation has worsened significantly. Please pardon my son, I assure you that he will behave decently and live peacefully," she reported.
Sadyr Japarov, as a compassionate person, decided to pardon not only Azhiev but also another 75 convicts who had committed less serious crimes on the same day.
However, when the president learned about Azhiev's flight by helicopter, he immediately ordered to return him. "As a result, Azhiev went home by car. Reports of his helicopter flight were indeed confirmed. But within 15 minutes, we turned the helicopter around and brought him back," he noted.
Japarov also commented on the criticism directed at the Ministry of Emergency Situations. "The ministry is not responsible in this situation. Helicopters, besides emergency flights, also carry out commercial orders. Emergencies do not happen every day, so we allowed the use of the equipment for commercial purposes," said the president.
Additionally, he pointed out that there were no instructions to pick up Azhiev specifically from the prison. "Only the takeoff and landing points, flight time, and number of passengers are indicated there," he added.
Japarov also expressed surprise at where Azhiev got the money for such an "expensive" service. "When I heard about this, I was confused. His mother is crying, saying, 'We are left with nothing,' while he is ordering a helicopter straight from prison. My first thought was that I was deceived," the president emphasized.
"You see, many take advantage of my kindness and softness, but this doesn't last long. As they say, if a soft person becomes tough, it is forever," concluded Sadyr Japarov.
