The recent video appeal from Daniel Azhiev's mother and the WhatsApp correspondence published by Askat Alagozov, the president's press secretary, have sparked widespread resonance. This occurred after President Sadyr Japarov admitted that he was deceived by Azhiev's mother, who took advantage of his kindness.
The president noted that the woman was able to establish contact with him through the messenger. She convinced him of her family's difficult situation and promised that her son would change. After signing the pardon act, Daniel Azhiev left the colony by helicopter, which caused public discontent.
In response to questions that arose on social media about how the contact was made, Alagozov provided official clarifications:
“In early January, Daniel Azhiev's mother appealed to President Sadyr Japarov with a request for her son's pardon. Due to doubts that arose on the internet about how she could contact the president's personal number on WhatsApp, we are publishing the video appeal and a screenshot of the phone number from which the message was sent.”
