As a result of the conflict in the Middle East, gas prices in Europe have risen by 50%, reports Meduza citing its sources.

The price increase was triggered by the suspension of operations at QatarEnergy, one of the world's leading producers of liquefied natural gas, due to attacks from Iran, according to Al Jazeera.

In the Netherlands and the UK, wholesale gas prices have increased by nearly 50%.

Today, Iranian drones attacked gas facilities in Ras Laffan and Mesaieed.

The conflict between Israel and the US on one side and Iran on the other began on February 28, when numerous air and missile strikes were launched against Iranian cities and military facilities. In response, Tehran carried out attacks on Israeli and American military bases located in various countries in the region. In the first hours of the conflict, several high-profile Iranian officials and military personnel were killed. American President Donald Trump announced the start of a military operation called "Epic Fury".

As a result of the attacks, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed, along with about ten high-ranking officials from Tehran.
