From February 28 to March 5, 2026, dangerous natural phenomena are expected in the mountainous regions of Kyrgyzstan, including avalanches, snow drifts, and ice. This information was provided by the Hydrometeorological Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
During this period, unstable weather will be observed, which may create difficult conditions on some highways across the country.
The most risky sections are listed below:
- the Bishkek–Osh highway at sections 121–138 km (Töö-Ashuu pass) and 198–265 km (Chychkan gorge, Ala-Bel pass);
- the Myrza-Ake–Kara-Kulja–Alakuu highway on the segment 55–115 km;
- the Ala-Buka–Kanysh-Kiya highway at 45–112 km (Chapchyma pass);
- the Krasnaya-Gorka–Ak-Tash highway at 0–3 km;
- the Bishkek–Naryn–Torugart highway at sections 292–305 km (Dolon pass);
- the Balikchy–Kazaraman–Jalal-Abad highway at sections 201–205, 260–290, and 326–349 km (Kök-Art pass);
- the Karakol–Enilchek highway on the segment 45–90 km (Chong-Ashuu pass).
In light of the above, drivers are strongly advised to exercise increased caution and maintain a distance of at least 500 meters between vehicles to ensure safety on the roads.
