The document was signed between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association, as well as the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
According to the Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing, within the framework of this project, Kyrgyzstan will receive $30 million as a loan and an additional $1.79 million in the form of a grant.
The loan funds will be provided for a period of 50 years with a 10-year grace period and a zero interest rate. The completion of loan repayments is scheduled for December 15, 2074.
The Deputy Minister also noted that the first phase of the project includes three key components.
- Combating zoonotic infections: this involves strengthening animal monitoring, developing effective methods for diagnosis and treatment, and raising awareness of the risks of transmission of infections from animals to humans.
- Preventing antimicrobial resistance: it is important to use antibiotics rationally in veterinary medicine and healthcare, develop alternative treatment methods, and prevent the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
- Ensuring food safety: emphasis on improving sanitary conditions at all stages of production and processing, as well as strengthening product quality control.
