The loan is provided for a term of 50 years
In the first reading, funding for the project "Phase 1 for the Kyrgyz Republic under the 'One Health' program in Central Asia" was approved by the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on agricultural policy, water resources, subsoil use, ecology, and environmental protection.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zhanibek Kerimaliev reported that the total budget of the project is 100.3 million dollars. This amount will be distributed among three ministries, of which 30 million dollars will be allocated as a grant, and the remaining part will be loan funds.
The project aims to significantly improve the veterinary, sanitary, and laboratory infrastructure of the country. Among the planned activities are:
- to build two new veterinary laboratories;
- to modernize six existing veterinary laboratories;
- to acquire two mobile laboratories;
- to repair and equip forty checkpoints;
- to upgrade seventy-eight veterinary and sanitary laboratories;
- to equip forty-four laboratories with refrigeration equipment.
Additionally, the project will include the acquisition of:
- 875 thousand doses of vaccines against brucellosis for cattle;
- 5.5 million doses of vaccines for small livestock.
Moreover, the project includes training veterinarians who will work in agricultural and Osh state laboratories. There are also plans to modernize the laboratories of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the National Academy of Sciences will receive specialized equipment, including drones, mini-tractors, and smart equipment.
The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry will be responsible for the implementation of the first phase of the project, which costs 31.79 million dollars. Funding will be provided by the International Development Association.
