These agreements were signed on July 11, 2025, in Bishkek between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association, as well as with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which acts as the administrator of the Trust Fund for Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response.
The project aims to prevent pandemics, strengthen the resilience of food systems, and protect ecosystem health in Central Asia. It implements a comprehensive "One Health" approach that integrates aspects of human, animal, and environmental health.
Under these agreements, Kyrgyzstan will receive:
- a loan of 30 million US dollars for a term of 50 years with a 10-year grace period and a zero interest rate;
- a grant of 1.79 million US dollars.
It is expected that the funds received will be directed towards the following areas:
- strengthening monitoring and early detection of zoonotic infections among humans, animals, and wildlife;
- modernization of laboratory networks, including equipping with modern equipment and improving diagnostic capabilities;
- preventing antimicrobial resistance through the rational use of antibiotics in medicine and veterinary medicine;
- ensuring food safety at all stages of production and processing;
- creating and strengthening epidemiological surveillance systems, including monitoring of wild and migratory species;
- developing inter-agency coordination and legal regulation in the field of biological safety;
- training personnel, educating specialists, and creating information platforms for data exchange.
