Deputy Calls on the Ministry of Health to Address the Sale of Recalled "Nestlé" Baby Formulas Due to Dangerous Toxin

At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Labor, Health, Women's Affairs, and Social Issues, Deputy Gulnara Baatyrova raised the issue of the activities of the children's food distributor "Nestlé" — LLC "Forester".
She reported on the recall of products concerning the baby formulas of this brand.
Baatyrova emphasized that despite the recall, these products can still be found for sale, including in pharmacy chains.
The Department of State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance previously notified that the distributor is conducting a recall of dry instant milk, fermented milk, and lactose-free formulas under the brands NAN 1 OPTIPRO, NAN OPTIPRO 2, NAN EXPERTPRO, NAN 2 OPTIPRO, PRENAN, and NAN LACTOSE FREE, produced on specific dates.
The reason for the recall was potential risks associated with the presence of the toxin cereulide in arachidonic acid used in production.
Cereulide is a toxin produced by certain strains of the bacterium Bacillus cereus and is resistant to high temperatures. Consumption of contaminated products can lead to vomiting and diarrhea, resembling symptoms of food poisoning or an allergic reaction to cow's milk.
It is worth noting that similar batches of Nestlé baby formulas have also been recalled in Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
