Nestle recalls part of its products from retail chains in Kyrgyzstan

The Department of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan has informed that LLC "Forester," the official distributor of Nestlé baby food, has announced the need to recall certain products. Specifically, this concerns several batches of baby food, such as dry instant milk formulas, fermented milk products, and lactose-free items.

The recall pertains to trademarks such as NAN 1 OPTIPRO, NAN OPTIPRO 2, NAN EXPERTPRO, NAN 2 Optipro, PRENAN, and NAN LACTOSE FREE with specific production dates. This measure has been taken as part of a global voluntary product recall due to a potential risk of the toxin cereulide being present in the raw material (arachidonic acid).

The official distributor has begun the process of withdrawing the specified batches from circulation in the Kyrgyz Republic.

In this regard, the Department recommends that consumers check the names and production dates of the baby formula they are using. If they match the recalled batches, it is advised to stop using the product and contact the distributor for a return.

Sellers are also strongly advised to suspend the sale of the specified batches and ensure their withdrawal from trade.

The manufacturer clarifies that the recall concerns a limited number of batches that may contain the toxin cereulide, produced by certain strains of the Bacillus cereus bacteria. This toxin is resistant to high temperatures and is not destroyed by boiling. Symptoms that may occur after consuming products with high levels of cereulide can include vomiting and diarrhea, resembling manifestations of food poisoning or an allergic reaction to milk proteins.
