State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance: In Kyrgyzstan, "Nestlé" formulas are being recalled due to a dangerous toxin for children
The recall includes dry milk formulas, including fermented milk and lactose-free products sold under the brands NAN 1 OPTIPRO, NAN OPTIPRO 2, NAN EXPERTPRO, NAN 2 OPTIPRO, PRENAN, and NAN LACTOSE FREE with specific production dates.
As clarified by the department, the notification of the voluntary recall came from the distributor of baby food "Nestlé" — the company OsOO "Forester".
The reason for the recall was the possible presence of the toxin cereulide in the raw materials associated with arachidonic acid. The official distributor has already begun the process of withdrawing the specified batches of products from stores across the country.
Experts recommend that consumers pay attention to the name and production date of the baby formula. If they match the recall, it is advised to immediately stop using the product and contact the distributor for a return.
According to the manufacturer, the recall concerns a small number of batches that may contain the toxin cereulide.
Cereulide is a toxin produced by certain strains of Bacillus cereus bacteria, which are resistant to high temperatures. Symptoms that arise from consuming contaminated products may resemble food poisoning or an allergic reaction to cow's milk protein.
It is worth noting that similar batches of "Nestlé" baby formulas have previously been recalled in countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
