In Kyrgyzstan, certain batches of Nestlé baby food are being recalled

In Kyrgyzstan, a recall of certain batches of baby food under the Nestlé brand has begun. This was reported by the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, which received a notification from Forester LLC, the official distributor of the company's products.

According to the distributor, the central office of Nestlé in Russia has decided to voluntarily recall specific batches of baby food. This concerns dry instant milk, lactose-free, and fermented milk formulas, such as NAN 1 OPTIPRO, NAN OPTIPRO 2, NAN EXPERTPRO, NAN 2 OPTIPRO, PRENAN, and NAN LACTOSE FREE, with specific production dates.

The recall is being conducted as a precautionary measure and is part of Nestlé's global initiative due to the identified potential risk of the presence of the toxin cereulide in the raw materials, particularly in arachidonic acid.

The official distributor has already begun withdrawing the specified batches of products from sale in the country.

In this regard, the Department strongly recommends that consumers check the names and production dates of their baby formulas. If they match the recall, they should immediately stop using them and contact the distributor for a return. Sellers are also advised to halt the sale of the mentioned batches and ensure their removal from retail outlets.

According to the manufacturer, the recall affects a limited number of batches that may contain the toxin cereulide. This toxin is produced by certain strains of the Bacillus cereus bacteria, which are resistant to high temperatures and not destroyed by boiling. Symptoms that may arise from consuming products with high levels of cereulide include vomiting and diarrhea, which can resemble food poisoning or an allergic reaction to cow's milk proteins.
