At her traditional press conference held on the eve of the New Year, Meloni noted that if Europe interacts only with one side, its efforts will not yield the desired results.
“This is an important moment when Europe needs to start a dialogue with the Russian Federation. If Europe conducts negotiations by communicating only with one side, its contribution to a peaceful resolution of the conflict will be limited,” she emphasized.
The Prime Minister also added that negotiations should not be conducted “haphazardly,” as this could “benefit” Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Furthermore, Georgia Meloni noted that it is still premature to talk about Russia's return to the G8 format.
