Sales of the Nike suit surged sharply after a photo of detained Maduro in similar clothing

Immediately after the appearance of a photo of Nicolás Maduro, arrested in a gray Nike Tech Fleece tracksuit, the demand for this item sharply increased. This outfit unexpectedly became a fashion trend at the beginning of the year, reports Tengri Life.

It all started with a post by Donald Trump on the social network Truth Social. In the photo taken shortly after Maduro's arrest on January 3, he is depicted in handcuffs, with a tight black blindfold over his eyes and noise-canceling headphones, wearing a classic gray Nike Tech Fleece set.

According to Google Trends data, on January 4 and 5, interest in queries related to Nike Tech, gray Nike Tech, and the Nike Tech suit increased several times. Some queries reached the maximum popularity index of 100 points.

At the same time, users began reporting a significant increase in search traffic and issues with size availability in warehouses.

On the official Nike website, some sizes of this model were sold out. In particular, the 3XL size, in which Maduro was photographed, disappeared from sale just an hour after the image began circulating. The complete Nike Tech Fleece set (hoodie and pants) costs about $270: $145 for the top and $125 for the joggers.

Discussions on social media quickly turned into new memes and humorous comments.

"Nike Tech Fleece. For the gym. For business. For federal arrest," noted one user.

On platforms X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, users joke that Nike Tech Fleece has become the "official uniform of the new generation of drug lords," replacing the iconic Adidas suits once favored by Fidel Castro.

Foreign media report that in just a few days, mentions of Nike Tech Fleece on social media garnered tens of millions of views, with the highest interest in the topic recorded in the United States, Brazil, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
