During today's meeting of the committee on constitutional legislation, state structure, local self-government, and the regulation of the Housing Code, the draft law "On State Awards, Honorary Titles, and State Prizes" was discussed and received support in the third reading. The main goal of this draft law is to reduce the number of state awards.

As noted, this document aims to streamline the existing award system, modernize it, and enhance the prestige of state awards.

The draft law provides for the creation of a system of highest honorary titles that will reflect the moral recognition of citizens' merits to society and the state, as well as eliminate duplicative norms and increase the significance of awards in the eyes of society.

Out of the 46 existing types of state awards, it is planned to retain only 18, as well as introduce two new highest honorary titles: "Honored Figure of Kyrgyz Republic" for those who have made outstanding innovative contributions at the national level, and "Pride of Kyrgyz Republic" for feats and achievements that have become symbols of national pride, including heroism and international success.

At the previous meeting, the Speaker of Parliament Marlen Mamataliev reported that a special platform had been created to study the submitted questions and proposals.

“During the consideration of the proposals, important points that were raised earlier were taken into account. In particular, the title 'People's Teacher' will be preserved. Titles such as 'People's Doctor', 'People's Artist', 'People's Writer', 'People's Poet', 'People's Painter', and others will also remain,” he emphasized.

The committee members unanimously approved the draft law in the third reading.
